Life is Fragile but FEAR NOT!

“...PERFECT LOVE casts out ALL fears!”
 -1 John 4:18

When we totally surrender and entrust every single second
of our existence in the center of God's sovereignty,
then we will gracefully enjoy this amazing life
He gave us and live it to the full!

Imagine yourself waking up one morning inhaling the mountain breeze, feelin’ the cold dew beneath your feet and listening to the sweet melody of little creatures on the other side. Alright! What a breath-taking view in front of you!

Stop the imagination. In reality, you’re in the corner of your semi-dark room, with music playing while browsing the web and viewing every blog entry of your adventurous cyber friends! Envious or encouraged? I’ve been there, I’ve done that! But I used to be on the latter. I was encouraged and motivated that someday… somehow I’ll be on that moment. We are all enthralled by photos we seen in the internet – a brilliant sunset, long mountain ranges, waterfalls, flora and fauna or even extreme adventures posted by our friends that arouses a certain appeal in our being. Sometimes, we often aspire the final shot but neglecting to undertake the process.

I often asked myself before “How are you going to stand on the mountaintop when you’re afraid of doing it?” I have had an on-again-off-again relationship with fear.  I've been afraid of doing so many things. “I want this… I want that but I’m afraid.” FEAR has been my giant enemy before. To name a few, I've been afraid to go in new places, to be with strangers, long trip on the road and even ride a ship or plane. So, I have spent my first 19 years in the province just wishing to explore new things. And as I looked back to that bored teenage life, I eventually realized how far I have soared and disabled all those fears. BECAUSE I DARE TO STEP OUT! It was the time when I started to believe the truth that fear is not from God. He has given us power, love and a sound mind! We only need to activate all of them.

Let me share some instances of fear that hold us from soaring higher:

>> Fear of other Person's Perfectionism

Many of us are being trapped by this factor. We are afraid of what other people may say or think about us - and I consider this a mental illness, because it all starts in the mind. We do open a door and give room for this unwelcomed guest. We are giving them the chance to control the course of our lives since we listen to the negative opinions that may contaminate our mind. Why are we more concern of what others will think and not merely focus on what we directly heard from the Lord? Why do we let those spaces be filled-out by things not intended to be there? They may have the right to say this and that but you have all the right to ignore them. Filter every opinion according to the truth not the reality. Besides, no one is perfect except the One who created us - the Author of life, Giver of hope and Perfector of our dreams. But then, we must also remember that God is using circles of people to correct us, lead us, rebuke and help us comprehend His plan.

“The LORD does not look at the things people look at.
People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
-1 Samuel 6:7

We can’t hide anything from the Lord. Even the slightest desire, the smallest thought we have, He sees every bit of them. God knows when we are afraid, confused and discouraged and yet He still want us to confess and talk to Him during those times. Let’s humble ourselves and cling on His presence when things doesn’t seem right. Surrendering every emotion, confusion, negative thoughts in God’s hand gives confidence that we are able to overcome them. The moment when our feet may fail, Jesus will not. He knows best. We are designed for victory!

>>Fear of leaving our comfort zone

Life is fragile as we perceived. Death is just around the corner. It is described as a thief in the night that will just come to discontinue the breath of life. This reality causes us to be confined in our comfort zone – not daring to take a risk, because we’re afraid of getting hurt, failed or be broken. We hardly accept the truth that each day is a page that we can never turn back and inscribe story on that empty spaces.
