Mt.Gulugod Baboy | Captivated by Your Beauty

"Go outside, to the fields, enjoy nature and the sunshine,
go out and try to recapture happiness in yourself and in God.
Think of all the beauty that's still left in and around you and be happy!"
--Anne Frank--

It was a well-planned adventure!
Filipino Recreational Outdoor Group (FROG) invited me again during our Mt. Batulao's post-climb meeting to pursue the next climb at Mt.Gulugod Baboy. It took more than a month for me to be prepared physically and financially as well. Then, things have been in their right places especially my work schedule. I've been also blessed with new shoes and outdoor equipment, 40-L Conquer backpack, two days before the climb (sakto! nakakatuwa lng talaga.). And it was more interesting when my sister decided to join. Got it right! she was undeniably prepared. Thank you dearest sissy for this weekend getaway.

"For there is no
..our first climb together
friend like a

sister in calm or stormy weather,

To cheer one on the tedious way,

to fetch one if one goes astray,

to lift one if one totters down,

to strengthen while one stands."

--Christina Rossetti--

--- Fall. Stand. Learn. Adapt. Independence. Camaraderie. Leave No Trace! - Only few virtues that I've learned from this climb - from these people. The beauty of the nature is a plus! All of us are being stuck in a demanding world of labor and other stuffs and eventually forget the things where real energy came from. Yes, it is hard on the first step but sooner as you are approaching the summit, you will realize that the sweat, fears, and tired feet worth it all.---

"Steps follows step, Hope follows Courage, Set your face towards danger, Set your heart on victory."
- Gail Carson Levine, The Two Princesses of Bamarre

I've summed it all: almost an hour late from the assembly time (so embarrassing! 1st and last time na 'to). 2-hour bus ride from Buendia to Bauan, Batangas. Jeepney from Bauan to Mabini with lunch in between. Pictorials along the way. Jump-off point: Philpan Resort. P20 registration. Cemented pathway to Mt. GB ascent. buko juice. ice candy. itlog pugo. picture taking. rest. trek. eat. rest. trek. trek. campsite. SUMMIT!

Geared up with the mountaineering principles we have learned from the previous climb:
...take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints..kill nothing but time!

"There's a sunset every single day, and they're absolutely free."

I'd pause a moment to contemplate with the sunrise:
"Every day is a new beginning, a new adventure, renewed hope and a chance to make changes in your life.."
