Mt.Batulao 3.0 | HOPEful and Purpose-driven Adventure

Every new day is an opportunity to experience a life that will take us to the heights of insurmountable freedom and excitement. We can be as daring as we can, to step out from our comfort zone and explore on what’s more in the outskirt of our organized day to day living. Because, we are who we are and we can what we think we can be…

"What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve."
- Napoleon Hill -

A flashback.. Mt. Batulao One-point-Zero: October 13, 2012

Never mind my outfit. bundok ba talaga pupuntahan ko?? gossh!! hiyang-hiya ako nun sa kanila, but my heart told me,"Never Mind! It doesn’t matter. Just have fun and enjoy! Be excited in everything up there." (Click here for the rest of the story)

And as I looked back on the very first day I stepped my feet on the mountain top, I can still feel the immeasurable joy that opened my heart and mind to a life of greater possibilities. It’s more than a year now since I entered this adventure in the wilderness… mountaineering.  Low valleys, higher peaks, difficult trails, stormy weather, rocky and foggy summits are all part of my outdoor schooling. I learned lessons from every climb and the people I climb with. Those experiences are the reasons that push me to do whatever it takes and just enjoy whatever it brings.

» Revisiting my first love in a different light

I have received an invitation from HOPE Inc., led by my friend Eiron for this activity. So timely that some of my friends already expressed enthusiasm for a hike/weekend getaway. It’s been a while since the last time I’ve talked to my college friends - Armie, Jam, Pearl and Dan. { representing Catanduanes!}

..and everything has been done very well. Fun, adventure and outreach activity, all-in-one-day.

Assembly time was 5am at Coastal Mall Provincial terminal, and caught a bus going to Batangas at 5:30am. (standing position kami hanggang Cavite). We arrived at Evercrest before 7am and had our breakfast and briefing on the activity. It’s so overwhelming that everyone brought goodies for the kids and had joyfully participated.

The Purpose.. an Outreach Activity

“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” -Winston Churchill

Having a moment with the children and locals we’ve met along the way, shared smiles and few goodies was really soul-satisfying.

The Ascent ...

The Challenge

Fun and Enjoyment

A friendship bond..

We really enjoyed the day! Great bonding guys.. ‘till next time.
I would like to share these passages that inspired me to be the medium for other person’s encounter for new adventures.
.. from Pinoymountaineer’s “A Letter to a Young Mountaineer":
"Dream on, for who knows, perhaps it is power of dreams that guides the clouds, and opens up the skies. I believe that no summit is too high or too difficult for someone who sets his heart to it, and I believe in you. It will make me happy to see you, and the younger generation, go beyond where we have gone. A French saying goes: "The success of a mountaineer does not rest on his ability to reach the summit, but on his ability to bring people with him." Aim for the summits of your dreams, do it with all your heart, and in doing so, be an inspiration to others.”
The Reward

"Nature is man’s teacher.  She unfolds her treasures to his search, unseals his eye, illumes his mind, and purifies his heart; an influence breathes from all the sights and sounds of her existence."  ~Alfred Billings Street
